Your bass is all muddy and is difficultly heard throughout the song. The song also feels somewhat empty, but I like the drumbeat and theme. If the bass was higher, maybe lowpassed around 2500, it would've sounded better imo.

It's an attempt after all.

dude you need a subwoofer in your life

Good thing I had good headphones while listening to this.

I love this whole kind of aerial touch to the intro and melody that stays in the whole song. Very light, somewhat distant, very well made.

I think you should've put more than just a sub bass. While it's not misplaced, I feel like it's sort of... alone. This is a DnB track, but it feels like it's missing some bass.

But pretty cool.

^-^

5TanLey responds:

I don't think bass with mids/highs would fit here, chill tracks = sub bass only, for me at least :)

thx for your words again

Very, hum, action-y?

It sounds a lot like your previous DnB track, which I like. But seeing as it was REALLY similar, I don't know how to feel about this. Albeit, the drop past the 1:40 mark was pretty sick. The first part of the song resembles the other you made too much, but the second part flow pretty well. The breaks in the drum pattern really make it feel heavy and somewhat like a flow.

Other than that it's pretty repetitive and feels a little too distant to me. Those effects you use at the start are nice, but I would've toned down the reverb or use something else altogether.

Overall, not my fav of yours, but definitely not terrible.

5TanLey responds:

thx for your thoughts once again

I like it the way it is, it was supposed to be kinda simple and groovy, in my opinion it has enough "fun" and variations for its lenght

but yeah its basically a less distorted version of To Dust :)

I'd like to review this but what is there to review. It's a great ambient piece, very chill. But it's ambient. There isn't much going on; not much technicality to judge.

It's a great track, feels very distant yet has a punch to it. Good job, kappa, idfk.

5TanLey responds:

idfk - those were exactly my thoughts while creating this

Hey there! Happy to get another piece from you!

It is very liquid indeed and feels well rounded up, bringing a chill vibe along with the soft piano. Now, I'm going to guess again that the bass is from Sytrus, might be horribly wrong, feel free to correct me. This bass, to me, feels a little left out. Not that it would be too silent, I have great headphones and I hear it. It just seems like it resides too low in the frequencies. Maybe you could've added some higher ups in there, just to make it feel more present.

As always, just my opinion. Great track :)

5TanLey responds:

bass is lowpassed around 200hz, anything above that didn't fit the rest of the song imo.. it's supposed to have that "deep" feeling.. and it's harmor but any synth could do this I believe :)

thanks for the review as always

I'm getting multiple vibes out of this, none bad.

First one is a kind of Neurofunk vibes, especially with the strong sounds and aggressive drums. If it's what you were going for, maybe more ride and overall faster drum beats would've fit in nicely.

Second vibe I'm getting is the Hotline Miami 2 OST - Roller Mobster. If you've never listened to that song, you should. The slow start reminds me of it in many ways. The strong bass is welcomed and embraced. If that's the style you were going for, maybe more pauses in between measures to add maybe a minor arp or something along those lines.

Overall, very nice track although I feel is somewhat repetitive and feels like it's missing something.

It's nice seeing you mix something aggressive once in a while ^-^.

5TanLey responds:

No, 160 is the only right tempo :) I thought I would put some chords or arps behing the bass, but it didn't work much

thanks for your words

I'm digging this! It'll fit nicely in my playlist. Also, I don't think it counts as chiptune (more 8-bit drum n' bass in my humble opinion).

I'm really digging this bass, feels heavy and very glitch hop styled. It fits nicely and gives a great underline to the song. The lead is well mixed, not too present.

My only down side are the drums. The beat is nice, I just think the samples are meh. What I would've personally done: Would've went with Magical8-bit plugin (which is free), go for a noise channel and filter down the highs for a kick and so on. Yours aren't terrible and the beat is great. It just feels a little high for me.

Overall, this is really great! Will download and not skip when it comes up in my playlist.

Cheers ^-^

5TanLey responds:

well the samples are supposed to be "8-bit meh", I didn't even try to process or clean them anyhow, they fit well just like that imo..

anyway, thanks for a nice review as usual, I'm glad you like the tune :)

To be honest, this isn't terrible, but your sound design leaves to be desired.

Your piano is too over encumbered in the lows, making it sound kinda sloppy.
This isn't really dubstep.
The drop just feels over encumbered too. Mayhap you should revise your mastering on some of these, review your sound design so it doesn't sound fat. Also, there's an annoying click at 1:00.

I like the chill feeling this song has, I like your piano melody.

I just can't get into it.

Hope this can help you get better.

svmmit responds:

thank you dearly for the critique.

The muffled high end on the piano was intentional though.
I honestly dont know how to master music and I've never really learned anything about sound design.
the single click at the 1 min mark is just a render glitch from the lowpass filter on the white noise that i guess i didnt catch while listening

I don't really care that this isnt dubstep. I don't care for genres in general and newgrounds does not have a very wide selection of genres you can choose from in the drop down menu. I just always select dubstep at this point in my life.

I like what you've done here. An uplifting track with plenty of bass. Not my favorite genre, but I can appreciate it. I must say, that's quite a powerful bass. I don't know if it could be qualified as breakcore though?

The drums are bugging me. It's not that they aren't mixed well, to me it just seems like they're lacking some punch. It just feels like they were peppered on top to make sure they were in. I would personally have chosen a stronger kick in the lower frequencies, just to give it a little bit of power.

Overall, I think it's good, just the drums bugging me.

5TanLey responds:

It has an agressive amen break in it at fast tempo, so it kinda reminded me the genre.. I also had no idea how to name this song

drums lack punch = they aren't mixed well, probably :) yeah they feel quite drowned when I listen to it after a while.. dunno it sounded OK to me when I was making the track

thx for your thoughts :)

I could smell Sytrus being used with those sine basses (if I'm wrong forgive me).

Overall, really nice, chill piece. The reverb is at a point where it's comfortable, not obsessive. I like your little static overlay, kinda gives off a "comfy at home" feeling (maybe that's just me, I dunno). The drums that ebb in and out are a nice touch, adds a dynamic touch to the song. Strong piano too, powerful yet subtle. (I'm guessing it's a Kontact 5 library like The Giant or something along those lines).

Only thing that bothered me. That little "wet" sound throughout the beginning. I'm guessing it's a water drop? It sounded like someone opening their mouth close to a mic in my opinion.

Sweet piece.

5TanLey responds:

yeah it's from sytrus but it's actually a triangle wave so I shall never forgive you this mistake

the library is Soundiron Emotinal Piano, cool thing

the wet thing is supposed to be a minimal snare

thx for your opinions again :)
